You are creative. It says in Genesis 1:27, "So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” We are literally created in God’s image. He is creative, which makes us creative. You may think to yourself "no really, I’m not." Well, have you ever exercised your creativeness before? As I shared the idea with my co-worker about writing this blog about how everyone is creative they said: “well, you should write it you seem so passionate about it." I said no, I am not a writer and to be honest not everyone is the best at everything. However, we are all creative so I said I will write a blog about being creative. Here I am not telling myself I can’t... because I can, because I am created in His image.
Also, team up with God and brainstorm with Him about different ideas. As God called Israel to build the Tabernacle it says in Exodus 35:35, "He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers”. He literally put the blueprints in their heads on how to build the Tabernacle. It’s important to notice that God didn’t do it Himself, but He teamed up with His children and together they build the Tabernacle.
Creativity for me isn’t always about expectations, but about expression. Yes, we are called to do everything with excellence. So do your best, but don’t stress. I know for myself I love taking landscape pictures and really being alone with God out in nature. To be honest not all my pictures are the best, but that doesn’t stop me from being creative.
Here’s a small list of things you can do to be creative:
I want to encourage you and say that being creative isn’t what you do but how you do it. I want to challenge you to think outside the box in everything you do and exercise and express yourself through the creative person God had made you to be.
